So I had previously posted about my purchase of three Morakniv knives. Moras for short. I wasn’t to impressed with them over all. I mean come on. How good could a knife be that comes with a cheesy plastic sheath and sells for under $15 bucks? Right?
Boy was I wrong.
First off, they come from the factory with an incredibly sharp razor edge on them. Ask my thumb. It knows this!
Second, they feel good in your hands. Even the lesser of the three.
My personal favorite is the Morakniv Robust. Little bit thicker blade, larger handle. It feels fantastic in your hand giving you unbelievable control over the edged tool.
But the plastic sheath. That is the most worthless thing I have ever seen. That might be a bit melodramatic. But I don’t like them. So I set out shopping.
The first sheath I ordered was a plain brown sheath from Self Reliance Outfitters. Seems decent enough. Good quality overall, although the belt loop is a little thin. It would not fit the ROBUST but fits the Companion MG just fine. And for the most part, it will stay in a backpack rather than on a belt. Not bad.
Then I was cruising eBay. Which is dangerous for me anyway, much less when I am looking for something “edged tool” related. I found this.
First. It fits my Mora ROBUST like a glove. I got this from a seller named Duane Holz. He makes a few different sheaths for different knives and all of them appear to be of equal quality. Duane shipped fast and communicated all the way while it was in transit. Awesome guy to do business with.
