Tracie and I went to McAlister’s Deli for a late lunch yesterday. As we were sitting there Tracie looked up and saw what appeared to be mold and mildew on the ceiling above some folks table. (See photo below.)
That kinda grossed both of us out as we sat there thinking those spores could be dropping on our food. And with the ceiling fans going, there was no place in the restaurant that was “safe” from this potential health hazard.
I wrote to McAlister’s via the form on their website. My email was pretty straight and to the point.
“ Is that mold or mildew on the ceiling? That just grossed my girlfriend and I out. Don’t think we’ll be visiting anymore.”
Their reply that I received this morning was:
Thank you for submitting feedback in regard to your last visit to our Augusta location. The spots on the ceiling tiles are from a water leak that has been fixed, new ceiling tiles have been ordered from the manufacturer. Unfortunately we can not get the colored ceiling tiles locally so it will be another week before we can replace them. I am sorry if this made your visit less than satisfactory. We will have this problem resolved as soon as possible and hope you will consider returning to this location in the future.
Well that is about a non-answer. They are leaving moldy nasty ceiling tiles above customer’s tables because they can’t get the right color here locally? Really? So because the colors won’t match your are potentially endangering your customer’s health? Why didn’t you go to Lowe’s and grabe some non-matching tiles and get those nasty ones out of the building?
BAD DECISION McAlister’s.
Makes me wonder what else is going on in there that I don’t see.
